TEACHING
I have almost 10 years' experience teaching drums & other instruments, and am currently the drum tutor at Sheffield University's Music Department and Birkdale School.
MY TEACHING ETHOS:
I teach because I want to learn.
Patience, playfulness, and practice.
I like to get people playing, improvising and performing with others as soon as they can.
Even if it's one drum beat or one fill, there's so much you can do with that.
It's about being playful and making the most with what you have.
Don't wait to get something perfect or until you 'understand music theory' or 'can play lots of rudiments' in order to have fun and express yourself creatively.
Practice and playing is important.
You simply won't get better if you don't engage in this with a bit of consistency.
We can tailor a practice routine that's smart and effective, but ultimately, you have to do it.
I prefer students who are committed to their musical development, otherwise you'll be wasting your time & money.
So, if you're a committed beginner, or an intermediate/advanced player looking to develop further, then get in touch at the bottom of the page.
